Places to be
It is simply impossible to share with you all of our favorite spots throughout New York. So we’ve done our best to keep this list abbreviated.
For your convenience, we've created a Google Maps link you can use to access all of the spots on your phone.

The High Line
The High Line is an elevated path built on a former freight rail line. If you enter near The Vessel, by the time you reach ground level again, you can explore the neighborhoods of Chelsea, Meatpacking and West Village, which are each great to wander.

Met Cloisters
The Met Cloisters is where medieval Europe meets a panoramic view of the Hudson River, and where SJ and Walker got engaged. It’s undeniably a trek, but for anyone who’s already done the greatest hits of NYC, it’s a one-of-a-kind experience: peaceful gardens, ancient tapestries, stone archways. If you go, leave time to wander Fort Tryon park afterward.

Domino Park
Near SJ’s first apartment, the old Domino Sugar Factory is absolutely worth a visit. Next to the East River, it’s the perfect place to picnic, look out on Manhattan and consider moving to New York City.

Lobby Bar at The Chelsea Hotel
This hotel was the epicenter of sex, drugs and rock and roll in the 20th century. Now, it’s a little more tame. The Lobby Bar is our favorite place to grab a drink (highly recommend the Naked Lunch for whiskey lovers, or a dirty martini). We celebrated our engagement here!

Roosevelt Island
If you’ve been to NYC before but are seeking a new venture, Roosevelt Island is a lovely place to spend a few hours. The south side of the island boasts incredible views of Brooklyn and Manhattan. Grab a drink at the Panorama Bar and make sure to go for a ride on the cable car back to Manhattan.

Governor’s Island
A five-minute ferry ride from Lower Manhattan drops you into this magical car-free island full of Colonial America-era houses and green spaces for cycling. One of our favorite hidden gems but it is a half-day excursion at least!

Central Park
Classic NYC and absolutely beautiful in early October. The Loeb Boathouse is where you want to go to rent a little rowboat and pretend you are in a rom-com.

McGolrick Park
Near our apartment, this is where we go to relax, watch dogs run around and get baby fever. The haven for Millennial parents who've just grabbed a $7 latte and are sporting a trendy look, you'll understand why we like it here.

McCarren Park
On the border of Greenpoint and Williamsburg, this park is the heartbeat within these two neighborhoods. A fantastic place to people-watch, bop around for a coffee or grab a drink in the ParkHouse. Very central to all of our weekend activities.

Westlight
In the groovy part of Williamsburg, this hotel rooftop bar is an absolutely stunning place to get a drink. Might be worth grabbing a reservation in advance but you won't regret it!

McSorley's Old Ale House
This bar has been providing good times and hangovers since Abe Lincoln, who spent time here. You can get two types of beer — light and dark. Transport back in time here and get lost in the old pictures.

L'industrie Pizzeria
You knew there had to be at least one pizza recommendation! This is it. Do yourself a favor and make sure to get the burrata and hot honey on your pizza. Don't be scared off by a line! It moves quickly.
